On 21 May 2015 the 6th International Forum devoted to the issues of attracting Islamic financial investment took place during Moscow Halal Expo.
The award ceremony, where the exhibition director and a forum speaker Madina Kalimullina received the annual “Banking industry” prize, was a part of the event.
The speech of Saud ben Abdullah al-Mahmud, ambassador of Qatar, attracted great attention. He said that his countries' investors demonstrated a growing interest in the Russian market of halal products.
Among the main challenges the forum participants listed the of Islamic investors’ lack of knowledge about the Russian halal industry and the absence of efficient system regulating financial structures at the Russian market. In his report one of the delegates, Dmitri Savelyev, presented important information about elaborating a bill draft that would allow foreign financial organizations to operate in Russia in a safe and efficient way. The question of rating Russian organizations in the circumstances related to economic sanctions was also discussed.
The second session of the forum caused an animated discussion involving representatives of large banks and financial organizations.
The 6th International Halal Congress devoted to development of export and import aspects of halal products' supply, as well as issues related to standardization and certification of halal products, took place on 22 May. In conclusion, all participants acknowledged the need for joint development of Russian and foreign halal industry.
