On 9-12 April the international MIHAS (Malaysian International Halal Showcase) exhibition is taking place in Malaysia. Over ten years of its existence, the exhibition has become a leading event in the global halal business.
Yang Berhormat, head of the Malaysian Ministry of External Trade and Industry, delivered a speech at the exhibition opening. The minister noted that the growing popularity of halal products strengthened partnership ties of Islamic producers throughout the world and facilitated trust and mutual understanding between Muslims and followers of other religions.
This year the scope of the event has risen by almost 20%, and the exhibition features 102 more booths. The products of Malaysian manufacturers are presented at 343 booths, and other 277 booths showcase products from foreign countries, such as China, France, Australia, South Korea, Japan.
The Moscow Halal Expo exhibition has its own booth at MIHAS, which attracted many visitors. For example, a Palestinian food producer, Global Food Marketing Group, decided to participate in the Russian exhibition in June.
Samat Sadykov, a member of the Moscow Halal Expo organizing committee, met Asad Sajad, general secretary of the Halal Development Council of Pakistan, at MIHAS. An agreement was reached regarding a memorandum on cooperation between the HDC and the Russia Muftis Council.
A conference on food safety and prospects of halal industry development, where over 600 delegates from 30 countries are participating, is taking place at the same time as the exhibition.
