The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has reported data stating that the global market volume amounted to USD 2.3 tn. The main segment of this market is represented by food products (67%).
Russian companies are gradually becoming more and more active at the world market of halal products. In addition, they offer not only food supply, but also modern pharmaceutical and cosmetological solutions. In 2016 the annual international Moscow Halal Exhibition was a place for discussions on the export of Russian halal products to the markets of Middle Eastern countries.
Nine Russian companies have obtained an ESMA (Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology) accreditation for exporting their products to the UAE. Most of these companies manufacture poultry and meat products. According to estimates, the number of such firms is expected to rise at least twofold.
The members of delegations from Bahrain and Indonesia have demonstrated interest in commercial and investment cooperation with Russian companies.
The market of Afghanistan offers good opportunities for poultry export. Active negotiations with this country’s representatives took place at the exhibition.
The results of Moscow Halal Expo 2016 demonstrated that Russian companies had real opportunities to develop all three key sectors of the halal market, starting with food products.
