The question of modernization of standards applied to halal production is being discussed in Thailand. The representatives of the Thailand Economic Research Centre believe that these measures will help local products become popular with consumers from Muslim countries and will allow to expand the volume and geography of halal products export. The Economic Centre addressed the Thailand government with a request to pay special attention to the matter.
In response, Ledoen Kamp, deputy general secretary of the National Council for Economic and Social Development, issued a statement. He expressed the opinion that state institutions should provide full support to the manufacturers of halal products, in particular, with regards to conducting expensive product tests in competent laboratories and creating a modern standardization and certification system. Such strategic assistance can ensure the growth in halal products' sales volume, increasing competitiveness of Thai producers and their products at the global market.
